Range Rover Evoque common questions Why should I buy a Range Rover Evoque? The Evoque has a greater focus on luxury and comfort yet it also has the genuine off-road capability you expect of a Range Rover. It’s closer in size to (but smaller than) Land Rover Discovery Sport and is a rival for cars such as the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. The Range Rover Evoque is smaller than the Range Rover Sport. Both the current and previous Evoque scored a maximum five stars when tested by safety organisation Euro NCAP. Land Rover’s reliability record isn’t perfect but it finished ahead of both Audi and BMW in the latest J.D. The plug-in hybrid version of the latest model can travel more than 30 miles on battery power alone and tax is very low. The manual front-wheel drive models are the ones to go for if you want the lowest costs. The Evoque costs about the same to run as the Audi Q3 or BMW X1. The newest model is a bit more spacious throughout and also better equipped, although even the most cost-effective models of the older car have cruise control, electric driver’s seat adjustment and rear parking sensors. Four adults will fit comfortably in the five-door model and the boot is large enough for three medium suitcases. It’s a practical family car, too, although access to the back seats is easier in five-door models than in the three-door and convertible versions. With its high seating position, premium materials and minimalist interior design, the Evoque feels every inch a Range Rover from behind the wheel. All of the engines give strong performance and the latest Evoque is capable of towing up to 2000kg. The latest model is available with mild hybrid power, and as a plug-in hybrid. Entry-level models have front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox but most versions have an automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. All models give you a smooth ride and feel stable and assured on the motorway. Some rivals have a sportier feel but it’s enjoyable to drive, with responsive steering and not much lean through corners. The Evoque combines the commanding driving position and genuine off-road ability you expect of a Range Rover with a compact size that makes it well suited to town driving and tight parking spaces. The all-new Evoque, launched in 2019, is only available as a five-door and has a modernised, slightly sleeker look inside and out. The previous Evoque, on sale new between 20, was available in three or five-door versions and even as a two-door convertible. The Range Rover Evoque is a compact premium SUV that offers all the style and quality of the brand’s larger models in a smaller, yet still practical, package.
